About

Comic-Con is a yearly convention held in San Diego, California. It is a multi-genre event which at first covered only comic-books, television and film, but has now expanded into other areas, such as manga, animation and toys. It is traditionally a four-day event, spanning from Thursday to Sunday, although there is often a preview event on the Wednesday for pre-registered guests. This event is the largest of its kind in the world.

Season One — 2010

The convention was held at the San Diego Convention Center from July 22-25, 2010. During the convention, men dressed in black suits promoting The Event handed out envelopes containing a top-secret memo.

On Saturday, July 24, 2010, The Event hosted its first panel at Comic-Con. Creator and executive producer Nick Wauters began by welcoming the audience with showrunner Evan Katz, followed by a screening of the pilot. Afterwards, moderator Kristin Dos Santos (E! News) introduced and then briefly questioned the panel herself. In addition to those seated as part of the panel, cast members Scott Patterson, Taylor Cole, Lisa Vidal, Bill Smitrovich, and Clifton Collins, Jr. were also in attendance and were introduced.

Answering Kristin's questions, the producers would not discuss what exactly "the event" was, or if there would be multiple events. Evan Katz noted that some things had to be kept under wraps, but many obvious questions raised by the pilot will be answered by the second episode. Nick Wauters clarified that he wanted to "create something that had a little bit of everything for everyone... that [the show] is really a thriller, it's a love story, it's a mystery, and it does have an element of science fiction, but the entire story does not rest on it." Responding to Kristin's questions on how it felt to play the first Cuban-American President and how much "latin-favor" he would be bringing to the show, Blair said it was very exciting for him, and noted that the decision to have a Latin President was made prior to his being cast for the part. Blair added that he thinks the decision to keep it that way is kind of "nice and sassy," and also confirmed that he does know how to salsa. Lastly, Nick announced the fan it! sweepstakes to win a walk-on role to appear in an episode of The Event.
