Leila Buchanan accompanies her boyfriend, Sean, as they go on a journey intending to find her kidnapped sister, Samantha, and information on her kidnappers.

Character History

2005

Leila and Sean first meet at the MIT swimming pool. Leila is having trouble swimming, and Sean, who is on the swim team, helps her improve her technique. She agrees to another swimming lesson from Sean. (To Keep Us Safe)

In November, Leila and Sean spontaneously decide to spend Thanksgiving dinner at her parents' home. Leila introduces Sean to her family and after Sean tells the Buchanans of his family, they bond over the dinner. (A Matter of Life and Death)

2010

Leila enjoys Saint Lucia.

Leila gets ready and leaves her home with her boyfriend, Sean Walker, for a cruise. During a stop at Saint Lucia, right when Sean is about to propose, she and Sean stumble across a life and death situation involving another couple. A woman has fallen from a cliff into the ocean below, and is in danger of drowning. Sean dives in to save her, and they have lunch with the couple. The couple, Greg Kervin and Vicky Roberts, decides to stick with Leila and Sean for the remainder of their stay. Later, after entering their cabin, Leila says she feels sick. They go out to the balcony to get some fresh air and agree to spend more time together without anyone else after snorkeling.

The two had had plans to go snorkeling the following day, but Leila is not feeling well, after having too much to drink the previous night.(I Haven't Told You Everything)

She stays behind at her room while Sean and Vicky go snorkeling. Later, Greg arrives at her door. He harasses her and insists that she drink something he dropped a Vitamin C tablet in, but when security appears, seemingly to calm the situation, Greg is murdered, and Leila is kidnapped by the two guards. (To Keep Us Safe) When Sean returns to the room, Leila has disappeared, and another couple has mysteriously made use of their room. (I Haven't Told You Everything)

Three days later, Leila is held at gunpoint by Vicky as her father is tortured by a mysterious organization that threatens to kill Leila if her father does not fly a plane. (To Keep Us Safe)

In Miami, while Sean continues his search for her, Leila is restrained in the back of Vicky's van. Vicky is pulled over by a police officer. When he insists on seeing the contents of her van, she shoots him dead, and stores him in the back besides Leila.

The van arrives at its destination of a shipping yard, where Leila is placed inside one of the cargo containers and sealed inside. She makes attempts to escape, but Vicky hears Leila and enters, pressing a gun to her forehead. Vicky's plans are cut short when she is interrupted by a phone call. (Protect Them from the Truth)

Leila is moved to a basement in a safe house. After apparently escaping from Vicky and Carter, Leila calls Sean from a police station, unaware that Vicky and her partners had taken control of the building before her arrival. (A Matter of Life and Death) She becomes aware of their ruse and fails to escape. Leila is finally freed by Sean with the help of Agent Collier and Vicky, who is being blackmailed by Sean to free Leila. (Casualties of War)

Twitter

On September 7, 2010, Leila Buchanan began posting on Twitter. She mentions babysitting Samantha, and then choosing what to wear for a movie, romantic dinner, and date night with Sean Walker. Later, she posts that Sean surprised her with a Helios cruise, and that her boss told her it is already taken care of when she asked for time off. Leila also posts that she goes shopping for a bikini, selecting her cruise outfits from her closet, and that there are three days to go before the cruise.

While on her cruise, Leila posts that the weather is perfect and that she is taking lots of pictures.
